Version 0 of 1.

Staff at three hospitals are in line to get a £100 bonus as their share in a £5m surplus, provided standards are maintained until April.

About 7,000 workers at Cheltenham General, Gloucestershire Royal and Delancey hospitals will benefit.

More money will be put into replacing ageing medical equipment and improving the environment in hospitals.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said bonuses will be paid if performance is maintained.

The announcement of the bonuses, which will not be paid to main board members, followed an "exceptionally" strong performance in recent months.

This will do wonders to improve morale Nick Adams, Staff Governor

Staff were said to have coped with high numbers of emergency admissions, outpatient referrals and births.

Infection rates for MRSA and Clostridium difficile have been reduced by a third and services were maintained safely during the summer floods, the trust said.

Chief executive Paul Lilley said: "The trust board wishes to thank staff for an exceptionally strong performance in recent months."

Staff Governor Nick Adams, said: "This will do wonders to improve morale.

"It shows that staff are noticed and will lift souls on these dark winter days."
