A senior adviser to Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has been abducted by gunmen in the Gaza Strip. Hamas, the Palestinian militant group in control of the Gaza Strip, says it is holding a key adviser to Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
Members of Omar al-Ghoul's family say about 30 men stormed his home and ransacked it early on Friday, accusing him of collaborating with Israel. About 30 men seized Omar al-Ghoul at his Gaza home early on Friday, accusing him of collaborating with Israel, his family said.
Mr Ghoul has been an outspoken critic of the Hamas militant movement, who seized control of Gaza in June after ousting the rival Fatah by force. A Hamas spokesman said he was being questioned over "illegal activities".
A Hamas spokesman denied that the group had any involvement in the abduction. Meanwhile, at least two people have been killed and 35 wounded by an explosion at a funeral in Gaza City.
It is the highest profile kidnapping of recent months in the Gaza Strip. Witnesses said a grenade was thrown into the crowd, which was made up mainly of Fatah sympathisers who had gathered for the funeral of a Fatah man killed by an Israeli air strike.
The attackers were in civilian clothes and, so far, no one has claimed responsibility for the abduction. Hamas said the grenade appeared to have been dropped accidentally.

Hamas officials have told the BBC they have no information about Mr Ghoul's abduction and that they are investigating the reports. Palestinian Information Minister Riyad al-Malki blamed "criminals working for Hamas" and called for Mr Ghoul's immediate release.
Also on Friday, there has been an explosion at a funeral in Gaza City for a man killed in an Israeli air strike on Thursday. "Hamas and all of its parties are responsible for his life," the Reuters news agency reported him as saying.
The precise details are still unclear, though reports say a grenade went off during the procession attended by Fatah supporters. His detention was a message to Fatah leaders that "Gaza is closed to them", Mr Malki added.
At least 20 people were injured and some were said to be in a serious condition.
