Singles seek the Brief Encounter
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/england/5329558.stm Version 0 of 1. Encounters of a brief but hopefully close kind will be the order of the day as lovelorn singles hook up with one of the UK's largest train operators. The speed dating event takes place on Saturday on First Great Western's 1800 BST London to Bath service. The company has teamed up with dating firm, Moments Dating, in the hope of getting romance to blossom at 125mph. Glenda Lamont from First Great Western said trains were "still a great place for romance". Most of the tickets, costing £45, have been snapped up for the event which includes a two-course dinner at a Bath restaurant. The singles will travel first class and take part in a series of four-minute mini-dates. Customer services director, Ms Lamont, said: "Trains and train stations have long been portrayed as romantic settings for films and we're convinced they still are a great place for romance." |
