Hijack gang in screwdriver threat

A gang who hijacked a car in Belfast threatened the driver with a screwdriver and drove him to a cash machine making him give his pin number. The hijacking happened at Fitzwilliam Street, south Belfast, on Wednesday evening at 2130 GMT. The driver was confronted by a man armed with a screwdriver and was forced into the passenger seat. Three others got in and they drove to a petrol station where the man was forced to give his bank card and pin number. Money was then removed from his account. The car was again driven around the city, before the gang stopped to speak to people in another car. At this stage, the owner escaped and made his way to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he contacted the police. The man's blue car was found in St Mary's Gardens on Thursday morning. The owner of the car was not physically injured but was shocked by his ordeal. A man has been arrested and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
