Man jailed for raping dominatrix

Lionel Campbell, from Alma Court, Bournemouth, Dorset, raped the woman after his armed accomplice broke into her Belgravia flat in March 1994. He was caught after a cold case review in 2003 obtained a DNA profile from evidence retrieved in the dungeon, Southwark Crown Court heard. Campbell, 37, was found guilty of rape and indecent assault. His victim said despite her terror she knew struggling might make him even more violent. 'Troubled childhood' "I was hoping to find strength, I was asking for help in my heart, I was asking for help to find the strength not to resist," she said. After her ordeal, she and her maid were "manacled" to prevent their escape. I have no doubt despite your rehabilitation you remain a considerable risk of harm to other people Judge Peter Fingret The court heard that a troubled childhood and an addiction to drink and drugs lay behind the attack. Jurors were also told that Campbell not had attacked any other women since the rape. But Judge Peter Fingret said: "These were humiliating and violent offences fuelled by further degradation in you tying or manacling the two ladies to prevent their escape. "I have no doubt despite your rehabilitation you remain a considerable risk of harm to other people." He was also found guilty of robbery, two counts of false imprisonment and possessing a firearm. His accomplice has never been caught. |
