Man held over boy kidnap attempt

A man has attempted to abduct a young boy in Londonderry.

Police said a man grabbed a child in the Foyle Street area of the city at about 1630 GMT, but the boy's father and passers-by managed to rescue him.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and is being questioned in connection with the incident.

Detectives have appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have information about the incident to contact them.
