A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A paramedic and trainee technician both suffered bites and were taken to the University Hospital of Wales, where they were treated for minor injuries but not detained. | |
"A group of youths smashed the side window on the new emergency ambulance and it will now be out of action while it is repaired. | |
"If anyone has any information on an attack on ambulance staff then they should contact the police immediately." | |
The attack follows an incident across the city in Grangetown last month when several youths tried to board an ambulance and assaulted the crew who were trying to treat a young man. | |
Mike Cassidy, deputy chief executive of the Welsh Ambulance Service, said: "This latest incident was a particularly nasty and unpleasant attack which has left two of our staff needing treatment. | |
"Incidents of violence and abuse towards ambulance staff are a matter of great concern for the trust and we would ask the public to inform the police. | |
