Five flee separate arson attacks Family house attack 'sectarian'

Five people have been targeted in two separate arson attacks in Belfast. A south Belfast family who escaped from their burning home by jumping off a roof have said they were targeted in a sectarian attack.

The Fire and Rescue Service said the family had a lucky escape from the blaze which badly damaged the ground floor. A man has been arrested. A window at the front of the property had been smashed and a flammable liquid was poured inside.
Meanwhile, a woman escaped injury after a suspicious fire at a house at Cliftonville Avenue. Nadine Cassidy said her family was lucky to be alive.
The blaze caused minor damage. "I ran to the back bedroom and opened it, got Tommy and Michael out first," she said.
One of the fires took place at Florenceville Drive "I got out onto the roof and slipped and had to trail myself up.
The Fire Service said flammable liquid was poured in through a window at the property in south Belfast. "My mummy jumped and she fractured her leg. She is now on crutches."
