"At this stage no other persons are being sought in relation to these deaths," a police spokeswoman said. Det Insp Simon Astle of West Midlands Police called it a "tragic incident".
Both scenes have been sealed off and inquiries are continuing, she confirmed. Lewis' father, Shaun Dangerfield, said he had a room full of robots and transformers ready for his son at Christmas.
Post-mortem examinations are expected to be carried out in an attempt to establish how the boy and the woman, who was 27, died. "I cannot explain what has been taken away from me, mine and Lewis' family. It can only be described as devastating," he said.
West Midlands Ambulance service confirmed staff were called to two houses. Ms Hart's family said they were devastated at the loss.
"Ambulance staff confirmed the death of a 27-year-old woman at one address and that of a five-year-old boy at the other," a spokesman said.
