Ice storm arriving as I write this. School is predicted to be closed tomorrow. My daughter is actually upset because she can't afford to miss chemistry and she doesn't want to have a day without differential equations. But I'm tickled pink because it will mean I don't have to go to work. I've made a chocolate biscuit cake, I'll pour a glass of red wine and sit and listen to Radio 4 all day. Hip hip hooray!!!Te Holmes, Prairie Village, Kansas USA
I live in a suburb of Tulsa and we just got our power restored about two hours ago. We were without electricity for two days. It looks like a battle zone around here with trees and power lines down all over the place. There is ice coating absolutely everything about and inch thick. Luckily, the temperature is going to stay above freezing for the next few days, allowing the ice to melt. It's awful.Paul Metzger, Owasso, Oklahoma
I live in Iowa right by the Mississippi River and the storm is supposed to be here in just a few minutes. They are predicting up to 1 inch of ice! We are getting all our stuff ready in case of a power outage. The storm is just about 5 miles south of us right now. Brock, Davenport Iowa
It has been raining since morning. We did not have much ice on roads during the day but with evening and increase in rain, ice accumulation is on. Power is fine. Not much traffic as everyone kept home. Wichita State university closed at 5 pm today due to the weather and exams has been postponed. Tomorrow is going to be very bad day but i have exam so i am studying Indra Dahal, Wichita Kansas The US
I'm a university student at the University of Oklahoma. I was studying for finals, but heard they cancelled class today. The power went out at about 3:00am and all night I could hear the sounds of tree limbs breaking and falling to the ground. In the morning I went out to move my car to find that there were many limbs on the ground, and that they were continuing to fall at an incredible rate. It isn't safe to walk underneath trees at the moment, as I have seen them crush metal street signs. Blake Thornberry, Norman, OK USA
The ice storm wasn't too bad in the inner St. Louis metropolitan but knocked power and crippled streets out in the out lying counties. Most of the school districts canceled classes because of slick overpasses and bridges.Shane, St. Louis, Missouri
We are just beginning to see the effects of this new storm after last weekends ice storm. Driving was very hazardous and will only get worse as we go further into the week. We have 5" of snow on the ground and 2" of ice on top of that. I dread to think what rush hour tomorrow will be like. Hopefully the schools will close or open late to let the salt lorrys out.Richard Wing, Geneva, Illinois
