A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a 45-year-old woman in Flintshire. A Flintshire woman found dead at a house in Mold had head injuries and was strangled, it has been revealed.
Paramedics were called to a house at High Park, Gwernaffield, Mold, in the early hours of Sunday. The body of Karen Catherall, 45, was found at High Park, Gwernaffield, in the early hours of Sunday.
Karen Catherall was pronounced dead at the scene, said the Welsh Ambulance Service. An initial inquest hearing heard her death was caused by a "blunt force head injury" and "mechanical asphyxia"
North Wales Police have been given an extra 36 hours to question a 47-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder.
The Welsh Ambulance Service had previously said that Ms Catherall was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday, after being called to the address at 02:36 BST.

The North East Wales coroner has been informed. The coroner for North Wales East and Central, John Gittins, said the inquest opened on Monday would be adjourned pending the outcome of the police investigation.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said an emergency ambulance and a community first responder were sent to the scene after the callout at 02:36 BST. Det Insp Mark Hughes, of North Wales Police added: "A full investigation is under way and the family of the deceased woman are being supported.
"A 45-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene," she said.
