Version 0 of 1.

Post-mortem examinations have revealed that two men found murdered in a flat above a fish and chip shop died from head injuries.

The men were found above Shawbury Fish Bar on Drayton Road in Shawbury, Shropshire on Friday.

The victims have yet to be formally identified, but police have said they are Asian men in their 20s.

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to make contact as a matter of urgency.

Det Ch Insp John Collier said the investigation team was keeping an open mind about the motive, but there was nothing to suggest at this stage that it was a race crime.

The post-mortems were carried out by Home Office pathologist Dr Eddie Tapp.

'Very shocked'

Police confirmed that the two men worked in the fish bar and it is believed that they both lived in the flat above the shop, where their bodies were discovered.

Forensic officers are still at the scene, which remains closed off.

Chef Julie Smith, 33, who works in a pub close to the fish bar said: "Everybody is very, very shocked. I have lived here for 32 years and nothing like this has happened before. It's very quiet."

More than 40 officers are involved in the investigation.

A murder incident room has been set up at Telford police station and an appeal for information has been repeated, with witnesses asked to call 08457 444888.

Det Ch Insp Collier said:" In particular we are asking people to contact us if they saw anything suspicious on Thursday night or Friday morning at or near the scene.

"We can assure the local community that we are doing everything possible to trace the person or people responsible for this crime."
