Woman attacked in doorway of home

Police are hunting a man who attacked a woman in the doorway of her home before forcing his way in and stealing various items of property.

The robbery took place in Burnside, Alness, at about 2015 GMT on Friday.

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said the woman was injured but did not need hospital treatment.

The man was described as being in his early 20s and wearing a light-coloured top and a woollen hat. Police have appealed for witnesses.
