Three walkers have been helped from the Lomond Hills in Fife after one of the party slipped and fractured her ankle.

The group of women, who the police described as experienced and well-equipped, alerted the emergency services at 1500 GMT on Saturday.

Poor weather meant a helicopter could not be used in the rescue and the RAF Leuchars mountain rescue team was drafted in to help find the women.

The injured walker was taken to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

The walkers, who had a dog with them, were in a particularly remote part of the Lomonds known as John Knox's Pulpit.
