Helpline criticised over payoff
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/7134437.stm Version 0 of 1. NHS 24 has been criticised for giving its former chief executive a £50,000 payoff following his decision to leave six months into the job. Sandy Forrest joined NHS 24 in May but resigned in October saying he could not balance his outside commitments with his new role. Despite leaving at his own request, the helpline awarded Mr Forrest the payoff. Liberal Democrat health spokesman Ross Finnie has demanded an explanation over the use of taxpayers' money. NHS 24 said the money was to compensate Mr Forrest, a former Strathclyde police chief, for giving six months' notice. However, he left the organisation immediately. The helpline said Mr Forrest had done valuable work in preparing the service for the busy winter period. |
