Gaza farmer dies in Israeli fire

A Palestinian farmer has been killed by gunfire from Israeli soldiers on his land near the border with Israel, Palestinian medical officials say.

Another farmer was reportedly wounded in the incident, which took place near the southern town of Khan Younis.

Israeli military officials have said they are looking into the incident.

The Israeli military regularly carries out attacks on the Gaza Strip against militants firing rockets into nearby southern Israel.

More than 20 people, most of them members of the Hamas faction which controls Gaza, have been killed in the last week.
