Policemen deny autistic man assault claims

Two police officers have denied offences relating to an alleged assault on a 33-year-old autistic man in Luton.

PCs Christopher Thomas and Christopher Pitts face charges connected to an alleged attack Faruk Ali, 33, on 20 February this year.

The officers appeared at Amersham Crown Court where Judge Francis Sheridan adjourned the case until 20 October.

Leicestershire Police carried out an investigation into events outside Mr Ali's Luton home.

PC Thomas, 33, of Welwyn Garden City, denies racially aggravated assault, misconduct in public office and perverting the course of justice.

PC Pitts, 39, from Bedford, denied perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office.

Both men are officers with Bedfordshire Police.
