http://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2014/aug/30/premier-league-clockwatch-live Version 0 of 1. 5.21pm BST17:21 That’s all from me for this afternoon. Thanks for your time and your emails and remember that you can follow Scott Murray’s minute-by-minute report of Everton v Chelsea by clicking on this link. I’ll add links to the other match reports up above just as soon as they’re ready for public consumption. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 5.09pm BST17:09 Meanwhile in Scotland: After the first-half goal drought in all five matches, there was a flood of goals after the collective interval. Aberdeen 2-0 Partick Thistle, Hamilton 4-0 Ross County, Inverness 2-0 Kilmarnock, Motherwell 0-1 St Johnstone, St Mirren 0-3 Dundee United. Inverness lead the table, followed by Hamilton and Dundee United. Celtic are best of the also-rans. 5.00pm BST17:00 Premier League results: Burnley 0-0 Manchester United, Manchester City 0-1 Stoke City, Newcastle 3-3 Crystal Palace, QPR 1-0 Sunderland, Swansea 3-0 West Brom, West Ham 1-3 Southampton. Everton v Chelsea (5.30pm). 4.59pm BST16:59 Championship results: Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Nottingham Forest, Brighton 2-2 Charlton Athletic, Derby County 1-1 Ipswich Town, Fulham 1-1 Cardiff City, Leeds United 1-0 Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough 0-1 Reading, Millwall 2-1 Blackpool, Norwich City 1-1 Bournemouth, Rotherham United 0-1 Brentford, Watford 3-2 Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic 4-0 Birmingham City, Wolves 3-1 Blackburn Rovers. 4.57pm BST16:57 Result: QPR 1-0 Sunderland Charlie Austin’s first goal in the Premier League is enough to win Queen’s Park Rangers’ their first Premier League points of the season. Updated at 5.01pm BST 4.56pm BST16:56 Result: Newcastle 3-3 Crystal Palace There’s no doubt about who the happier manager is at St James’ Park - Neil Warnock is all smiles as he shakes hands with a fairly non-plussed looking Wilf Zaha, the substitute who rescued a point for his side mega-late doors. Updated at 5.02pm BST 4.55pm BST16:55 Result: West Ham 1-3 Southampton Ronald Koeman registers his first win as a manager in the Premier League. Sam ALlardyce’s misery continues. Updated at 5.03pm BST 4.54pm BST16:54 GOAL! Newcastle 3-3 Crystal Palace Back at his old club on loan from Manchester United, Wilfried Zaha looks to have rescued a point for Crystal Palace at the death. Standing unmarked at the far post, he’s headed home. They’re still playing at St James’ Park. 4.53pm BST16:53 Result: Manchester City 0-1 Stoke City The Premier League champions are humbled at home by their former manager. Updated at 5.06pm BST 4.52pm BST16:52 Result: Swansea City 3-0 West Brom Garry Monk’s Swans go top of the Premier League, courtesy of a 3-0 win over West Brom. You can read all about it by clicking on this link. How’s that for efficiency? Eh? Updated at 5.07pm BST 4.50pm BST16:50 GOAL! Newcastle 3-2 Crystal Palace (Williamson 88) Mike Williamson is the unlikely scorer as Newcastle come from 2-1 down to make it 3-2 against Crystal Palace at St James’ Park. The defender swept the ball home after Rolando Aarons had hit the woodwork. 4.47pm BST16:47 Gah! Robert Green saves brilliantly from Emanuele Giaccherini to prevent Sunderland equalising against QPR. Meanwhile at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City have had what should have been a penalty turned down. 4.46pm BST16:46 Newly promoted Cambridge United lead Carlisle United 5-0 in League Two. That’s good news for their celebrity fan Max Rushden, who you can hear assisting me on our TalkSport radio show tomorrow morning from 11am to 1pm. 4.44pm BST16:44 Back in the Championship: Birmingham City are getting tonked - Sunderland old boy Martin Waghorn has put Wigan 4-0 up against the men from the Midlands. 4.43pm BST16:43 GOAL! West Ham 1-3 Southampton (Pelle) Ronald Koeman is on the verge of celebrating his first win in the Premier League. Graziano Pelle scores his second of the week, but his first in the Premier League, to give Saints a two-goal cushion against West Ham. The Italian, who Koeman signed from Feyenoord, didn’t impress when I saw him play against West Brom last week, but seems to have found his feet since. 4.40pm BST16:40 At the Etihad Stadium: Stoke City are under siege, camped in their own penalty area as Manchester City try to find an equaliser. They need to hold on for eight minutes. 4.37pm BST16:37 Everton line-up to face Chelsea at 5.30pm Everton (to face Chelsea): Howard, Baines, Distin, Jagielka (c), Coleman, Barry, McCarthy, McGeady, Naismith, Mirallas, Lukaku. #EFCvCHE 4.36pm BST16:36 Chelsea line-up to face Everton at 5.30pm Chelsea line-up today: Courtois; Ivanovic, Terry (c), Cahill, Azpilicueta: Fabregas, Matic; Ramires, Hazard, Willian;, Costa. #CFC 4.36pm BST16:36 Championship latest: Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Nottingham Forest (result), Brighton 1-1 Charlton Athletic, Derby County 1-1 Ipswich Town, Fulham 1-1 Cardiff City, Leeds United 1-0 Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough 0-1 Reading, Millwall 2-1 Blackpool, Norwich City 1-1 Bournemouth, Rotherham United 0-1 Brentford, Watford 3-2 Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic 3-0 Birmingham City, Wolves 3-1 Blackburn Rovers. 4.34pm BST16:34 GOAL! Newcastle 2-2 Crystal Palace (Aarons 74) Rolando Aarons finds the back of the net after Crystal Palace had needlessly conceded a corner. 4.31pm BST16:31 GOAL! Swansea City 3-0 West Brom (Dyer 71) Another goal from Nathan Dyer, another assist from Gylfi Sigurdsson. West Brom won’t be ending their away-from-home August hoodoo this afternoon. 4.27pm BST16:27 GOAL! West Ham 1-2 Southampton (Schneiderlin 68) While West Ham’s players were arguing with the referee over a throw-in or corner or something, James Ward-Prowse picked out Morgan Schneiderlin who’s bagged his second of the afternoon at Upton Park. 4.25pm BST16:25 Meanwhile back in the Championship: Blackburn have pulled one back to make it 2-1 against Wolves, while Huddersfield have come back for a second time against Watford. Centre-back Gabriel Tamas has just been sent off for Watford . 4.21pm BST16:21 Stoke go close again: Peter Odemwingie misplaces a cross to the unmarked Diouf, who was waiting to double Stoke City’s lead. Manchester City are on the ropes. 4.20pm BST16:20 1341 - Mame Biram Diouf has scored his first Premier League goal for 1,341 days. Gap. 4.19pm BST16:19 Diouf has run almost the entire length of the field to score, giving Stoke the lead at Manchester City. Hart should have saved it. 4.18pm BST16:18 GOAL! Manchester City 0-1 Stoke (Diouf 58) From a Manchester City corner, Mame Biram Diouf picks up the ball about 10 yards outside his own penalty area, embarks on a lung-busting run and beats three players, before nutmegging Joe Hart, who should have done better. That’s a splendid individual goal, although the finish was a bit ropy. Ultimately, it was helped by poor goalkeeping from Joe Hart. Updated at 4.28pm BST 4.16pm BST16:16 Cardiff equalise against Fulham: Kenwyne Jones slides the ball under the goalkeeper to make it 1-1 at Craven Cottage. 4.13pm BST16:13 More from the Championship: Scott Malone doubles Millwall’s lead against Blackpool at the Den, while Christophe Berra scores for Ipswich to make it 1-1 against Derby at Pride Park. 4.11pm BST16:11 Championship latest: Huddersfield have made it all square against Watford at Vicarage Road. Harry Bunn lashed home after getting on the end of a deflected cross from Sean Scannell. It’s 1-1. 4.06pm BST16:06 GOAL! Newcastle 1-2 Crystal Palace (Puncheon 48) Jason Puncheon further weasels his way back into manager Neil Warnock’s good books by thumping the ball into the ground and past Tim Krul to restore Crystal Palace’s lead. Updated at 4.22pm BST 4.05pm BST16:05 This from the Guardian’s Stuart James Wonderful volley from Routledge - superb technique. Swansea spoiling my daughter, who (and this won't be popular with her mum) is captivated 4.02pm BST16:02 Some fascinating half-time scores from the SPL Aberdeen 0-0 Partick Thistle, Hamilton Accies 0-0 Ross County, Inverness 0-0 Kilmarnock, Motherwell 0-0 St Johnstone, St Mirren 0-0 Dundee United. 3.57pm BST15:57 With half-time whistles blowing around the grounds, let’s have a look at the lie of the land ... Premier League: Burnley 0-0 Manchester United (result) Man City 0-0 Stoke City, Newcastle United 1-1 Crystal Palace, QPR 1-0 Sunderland, Swansea City 2-0 West Brom, West Ham 1-1 Southampton. Championship: Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Nottingham Forest (result), Brighton 0-1 Charlton Athletic, Derby County 1-0 Ipswich Town, Fulham 1-0 Cardiff City, Leeds United 1-0 Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough 0-1 Reading, Millwall 1-0 Blackpool, Norwich City 1-1 Bournemouth, Rotherham United 0-1 Brentford, Watford 1-0 Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic 3-0 Birmingham City, Wolves 2-0 Blackburn Rovers. Apologies for the Premier League and Championship-centric focus of today’s Clockwatch, but there have been so many goals flying in that I haven’t had any time to check on the results from other divisions. You can find whatever you’re after by clicking on the link up above. 3.49pm BST15:49 GOAL! QPR 1-0 Sunderland (Austin 45) Charlie Austin scores his first goal for QPR, firing into the roof of the net after getting on the end of a flick on from a corner. That’s QPR’s first League goal of the season. Updated at 4.09pm BST 3.47pm BST15:47 GOAL! West Ham 1-1 Southampton (Schneiderlin 45) The Southampton midfielder hammers a right-footed shot goalwards, only for James Tomkins to block. The ball bounces back to Schneiderlin, who deftly places it past Adrian in the West Ham goal with his left foot. Updated at 4.08pm BST 3.45pm BST15:45 Goals in 10 out of 11 Championship3pm kick-offs: Brighton 0-1 Charlton Athletic, Derby County 1-0 Ipswich Town, Fulham 1-0 Cardiff City, Leeds United 1-0 Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough 0-1 Reading, Millwall 1-0 Blackpool, Norwich City 1-0 Bournemouth, Rotherham United 0-0 Brentford, Watford 1-0 Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic 2-0 Birmingham City, Wolves 2-0 Blackburn Rovers. Updated at 4.00pm BST 3.41pm BST15:41 Cattermole watch: The tough-tackling Sunderland midfielder has already been booked in his side’s match against QPR and was apparently lucky not to receive a second booking for an act of petulance a few moments ago. He’s on his final, final warning. 3.40pm BST15:40 Goal! Newcastle 1-1 Crystal Palace (Janmaat 38) Newcastle equalise, with Daryl Janmaat forcing the ball home after some impromptu pinball in the Crystal Palace penalty area. 3.37pm BST15:37 Back in the Championship: Wolves have doubled their lead against Blackburn courtesy of a left-footed Bakary Sako free-kick. At the Den, Scott McDonald has opened the scoring for Millwall against Blackpool by finishing off a nicely rehearsed free-kick routine. Updated at 3.38pm BST 3.32pm BST15:32 Jonas Olsson goes close at the Liberty Stadium: The West Brom centre-back stretches to clear, but sends a looping header towards his own goal and is relieved to see it crash off the cross-bar. Swansea seem to be in complete control of this game. 3.30pm BST15:30 GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Southampton (Noble 27) Forster can do nothing this time, when a Mark Noble shot is deflected past him by Southampton and into the corner by Saints centre-back Maya Yoshida. 3.29pm BST15:29 West Ham go close against Southampton: Fraser Forster saves brilliantly from Ricardo Vaz Te, when the ball broke to the West Ham forward with the goal gaping. 3.27pm BST15:27 GOAL! Swansea 2-0 West Brom (Routledge 24) West Brom’s quest to win a Premier League match away from home in August for the very first time looks unlikely to end today. Wayne Routledge has put Swansea two up with a quite splendid right-foot volley with the ball bouncing at hip-height. Updated at 3.35pm BST 3.21pm BST15:21 More goals in the Championship: Bournemouth old boy Lewis Grabban puts Norwich City ahead against his old club after 15 minutes, but doesn’t celebrate. Troy Deeney wins a one-on-one against Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies to give Watford a one-goal lead and at Elland Road, Leeds have just taken the lead against Bolton Wanderers. Stephen Warnock with the goal there. 3.15pm BST15:15 In the Championship: Wigan go ahead against Birmingham City: Callum McManaman runs from deep, turns the Birmingham City defence inside out and fires a low drive past Darren Randolph to give Wigan an early lead. Elsewhere, Derby County lead Ipswich Town 1-0, courtesy of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, while Wolves lead Blackburn Rovers at Molineux. Nouha Dicko got the goal there. Updated at 3.34pm BST 3.10pm BST15:10 At the Riverside Stadium: Simon Cox has put Reading a goal up against Boro in the Championship, while Fulham are reported to be dominating Cardiff City at Craven Cottage, where home fans are sining in praise of former owner Mohamed Al Fayed. Updated at 3.22pm BST 3.06pm BST15:06 4 - Gylfi Sigurdsson has been involved in all four of Swansea's Premier League goals this season (three assists, one goal). Hero. 3.06pm BST15:06 Meanwhile at the Amex Stadium: Charlton Athletic are a goal to the good against Brighton, with Igor Vetokele scoring after four minutes. 3.04pm BST15:04 GOAL! Swansea 1-0 West Brom Nathan Dyer puts Swansea ahead against West Brom at the Liberty Stadium, shooting past Ben Foster from a tight angle after good link-up play with Gylfi Sigurdsson. Updated at 3.17pm BST 3.03pm BST15:03 Goal! Newcastle 0-1 Crystal Palace Without a single Newcastle player touching the ball, Dwight Gayle has already put Crystal Palace a goal up against their hosts. Updated at 3.16pm BST 3.02pm BST15:02 This from Simon Peach, PA Sport correspondent. Boos aimed at Felix Magath as he trudges out at Craven Cottage. #FFC looking to avoid fifth straight league defeat. I was at Magath’s pre-match press conference yesterday. In a nutshell, nothing is his fault - he went for the Bart Simpson defence: “It was like this when I got here.” 2.46pm BST14:46 Meanwhile in the Championship: Nottingham Forest have continued their excellent start to the Championship season with a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Henri Lansbury’s 37th minute strike was enough to send Stuart Pearce’s side four points clear at the top of the table with 13 points from their opening five matches. 2.43pm BST14:43 It's all over at Turf Moore ... Louis van Gaal’s search for that elusive first win as Manchester United manager continues, after a disappointing (for Burnley) 0-0 draw against the newly promoted Premier League paupers. We’ll roll out on-the-whistle report from the ground for you shortly, but in the mean-time, see what Scott Murray made of it all in his minute-by-minute match report. 2.39pm BST14:39 Some observations ... Observation No1: Neil Warnock and Jason Puncheon appear to have settled their well-documented differences, with the Crystal Palace midfielder named in his new manager’s first side upon his return to the job. The winger was fined £15,000 by the FA and warned about his future conduct after making Twitter comments about his former boss in January. Observation No2: Loic Remy has been left out of QPR’s squad, with a move to Chelsea believed to be nearing completion. Observation No3: Lee Cattermole is playing in the centre of midfield for Sunderland at QPR, who’ll have Joey Barton in the same position. That may not end well. Observation No4: Harry Redknapp seems to have decided his players aren’t good enough to handle this new-fangled 3-5-2 formation and has binned it. If their Twitter feed is an accurate barometer of the prevailing mood in Harry’s office, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker will play in central defence, with Mauricio Isla at right-back and Clint Hill at left-back. I guess that rules me out, then. My surname is 11 letters long, which makes it quite big. 1.59pm BST13:59 Exciting news from David Gold The West Ham co-owner has just tweeted the following ... We have just made a big signing, he’ll be introduced to the supporters before kick off today. dg Who will it be? Who will it be? Rumour abounds that the Hammers were after the scrawl of Alex Song, so it might well be him. I for one can barely contain my excitement. 1.57pm BST13:57 Premier League 3pm kick-offs Manchester City v Stoke City Newcastle United v Crystal Palace Queens Park Rangers v Sunderland Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion West Ham v Southampton Championship 3pm kick-offs Brighton v Charlton Athletic Derby County v Ipswich Town Fulham v Cardiff City Leeds United v Bolton Wanderers Middlesbrough v Reading Millwall v Blackpool Norwich City v Bournemouth Rotherham United v Brentford Watford v Huddersfield Town Wigan Athletic v Birmingham City Wolves v Blackburn Rovers 1.55pm BST13:55 Good afternoon everybody.
