The South Wales Fire Service received around 140 calls to floods in the Rhondda area in five hours. They said around 60 homes were flooded.
Roads were closed and trains delayed due to the weather and flooding. There are 12 flood warnings still in force.

There were also seven flood warnings and 28 flood watch warnings on the Environment Agency Wales' website at around 2130 GMT.
The Environment Agency Wales said the warnings were mostly on the rivers Ely, Severn and Wye. There were also 29 flood watches in force.
The agency said people living near the Ynysmaerdy industrial estate in Talbot Green should move furniture upstairs.
The flood warnings were for the A487 at Dyfi Bridge, Pennal and parts of Machynlleth; the River Ely at Peterson-super-Ely, near Cardiff; the River Ely at Ynysmaerdy industrial estate; two stretches of the River Severn which go through Newtown and Caersws; the River Taff at Pontcanna Fields, Cardiff and the River Wye at Builth Wells.
The agency's flood warning system consists of three codes, flood warning being the second highest with the flooding of homes and businesses being expected.

Meanwhile, floods on the A470 a few miles north of Brecon caused long tailbacks at around 1900 GMT on Thursday.

The second Severn crossing remained closed both ways due to strong winds at around 0500 GMT on Friday.

These included the A470 in Llanidloes, Powys, the A4046 near Tesco in Ebbw Vale, the high street and Station Road in Treorchy, Hopkinstown Road in Pontypridd and Highfield in Maerdy.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said that between 1800 and 2300 GMT on Thursday they received around 140 calls to flooding incidents in the Rhondda area.
But around 60 homes were flooded before fire crews could reach them, said the service.
The areas most severely affected were Ystrad, Treorchy, Pentre, Pen Rhiwfer, Porth and Trehafod.
Home evacuated
At the height of the incidents, 10 major pumping appliances and three 4x4 appliances were used to deal with flooded properties and divert flood water, said the fire service.
The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they had received 68 calls regarding flooding-related incidents over the course of four-and-a-half hours on Thursday evening.
In Conwy, crews helped evacuate residents in a residential home to the first floor of the property in Pandytudur, Llanrwst and pumped water away from the building.
On Anglesey, crews pumped water away from two houses in Bwlchyfedwen, Dwyran. Reports were received of 10 inches of water in the area.
The worst affected areas in Flintshire were Mold, Pontblyddyn, Leeswood and Mynydd Isa, said the fire service.
In Denbighshire, crews were called to a road flooded at Nantglyn, near Dinbych.
Areas affected in Gwynedd included Bangor, Llanllechid, Gerlan and Mynydd Llandygai.

They said most were calls about flooded roads but some were about water entering properties. There had been no rescues, they said.

Mid Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they had received some flood-related calls in Powys and Llanidloes was probably the worst affected.
Dyfed Powys Police said the Dyfi Bridge in Machynlleth was closed and they warned drivers to look out for standing water and to drive with care.
A replacement bus service was running on Arriva Trains Wales' service between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth because of flooding.
A normal service was not expected to resume until 1400 GMT.
