A man who admitted reaching speeds of up to 130mph on a rural road in south west Scotland has been given an eight-month jail sentence. A man who admitted driving at speeds of up to 130mph with a seven-year-old girl unrestrained in the back of his car has been given an eight-month jail term.

Instead, he accelerated and drove through the 30mph limit in Ecclefechan at speeds of over 90mph.
The police vehicle slowed down because of pedestrians and cars on the road but resumed the chase as Doherty reached speeds up to 130mph.
He eventually slowed the vehicle and tried to flee from it but was subsequently caught.
