Two men have been arrested after police seized drugs worth an estimated £80,000 in Downpatrick.

Suspected cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis were found during the planned searches in the Ballymoat area of the town earlier on Tuesday.

Two shotguns and a rifle were also recovered. Nine houses were searched during the operation.

PSNI Chief Inspector Brian Hanna said part the searches were part of a "proactive drug initiative".

"These searches show a determination to fight the supply of drugs in the down area," he said.

"We are determined to take these drugs off the streets and this seizure is a significant blow to those involved in the drug trade in this area. anyone with info contact police."
