Unemployment in the 13 countries that use the euro unexpectedly fell in October, to the lowest level since the eurozone was formed in 1999.

The EU's statistics office Eurostat said that unemployment fell to 7.2% from September's figure of 7.3%.

The European Central Bank's (ECB) interest rate-setters may make a note of the risk of possible wage inflation when they meet on Thursday.

However, no change in European interest rates is expected this month.

"The ECB is likely to regard the further tightening in the Eurozone labour market as maintaining the danger that wages could move higher over the coming months," said Howard Archer at Global Insight.
