The funeral is taking place for the second of four firefighters killed in a warehouse blaze in Warwickshire. A funeral for a firefighter who died as as a result of a blaze at a Warwickshire warehouse has taken place.
Ian Reid, 44, from Stratford-upon-Avon, died in hospital after being pulled from the vegetable packing plant in Atherstone-on-Stour on 2 November. The body of Ian Reid, 44, was transported to St Gregory the Great church, in Stratford-upon-Avon, aboard a fire engine.
The service is being held at St Gregory the Great Catholic church in Stratford-upon-Avon. He was one of four firefighters who died as a result of the fire in Atherston-on-Stour on 2 November.
Hundreds of firefighters lined the streets on Friday for the funeral of John Averis, 27, who also died. John Averis was buried on Friday. The funerals of Darren Yates-Badley and Ashley Stephens are being held later.
The body of Mr Averis was found by search teams five days after the fire at the factory. 'Conviction and compassion'
Funerals for Darren Yates-Badley, 24, and Ashley Stephens, 20, who also died in the fire will be held later this week. Mr Reid's cortege was led by three piper playing Amazing Grace and was flanked by police outriders.
Mr Reid had joined the fire service in February 2003 and worked at both Rugby and Stratford stations before being promoted to crew manager at Stratford in August 2004. Hundreds of firefighters gathered in a guard of honour.
He had been married for 15 years to wife Julie and the couple had an 11-year-old daughter, Sophie. Leading the service Father Austin Gurr spoke of Mr Reid's great bravery and courage.
Fire service personnel from across the UK will attend the funeral. His brother-in-law, Tony Oldham, described him as "intelligent, principled and articulate".
"Ian was a man of intelligence, conviction and compassion, a man who enriched the lives of those he met," he said.
