The case of a former minister who fought a nine-year sex discrimination battle with the Church of Scotland has been settled. Helen Percy claimed she was forced from her post after being accused of having an affair with a married church elder. The 39-year-old was suspended from her position as an associate minister for six glen parishes in the Presbytery of Angus in 1997. The case had been due to come before an employment tribunal in Dundee. However, it has been settled for an undisclosed sum, the Church of Scotland confirmed. After her suspension, Ms Percy later resigned and took her sex discrimination complaint to the tribunal. She argued that the Kirk had not taken similar action against male ministers over extra-marital affairs. |
