Woman hurt in gritter lorry crash

A 20-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries when her car collided with a gritter lorry in Angus.

The woman was driving a red Fiat Punto on Drumsturdy Road towards Newbigging at about 0740 GMT when it hit the oncoming lorry and left the road.

Fire crews from Tayside Fire and Rescue cut the woman free from the wreckage.

She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she was said to be in a critical condition. The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
