Version 0 of 1. A man accused of plotting to murder two South Australian judges is in hospital and will face a private bedside hearing, while his co-accused is due in court. The men, aged 63 and 44, from Murray Bridge, south-east of Adelaide, were arrested on Sunday after what detectives described as “a sophisticated investigation” over two months. The pair are accused of plotting to murder the two judges and to destroy their homes and that of a senior police officer. Police believed they were to going to carry out the alleged plot this week. Detective Greg Hutchins alleges the plans were motivated by retribution and that the older man offered to pay the younger man to carry out the alleged plot. Police on Sunday said the men, who are charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit arson on a home thereby endangering life, would appear in Murray Bridge magistrates court on Monday. However, police now say only the 44-year-old man will appear in the court. “The 63-year-old man also charged is currently receiving treatment in the Queen Elizabeth hospital and will be subject to a private bedside court hearing sometime today,” police said. |
