A teenager is due to appear in court charged in connection with the murder of Jack Anderson in Edinburgh. A teenager has appeared on petition in court charged with the culpable homicide of Jack Anderson in Edinburgh.
The 10-year-old was knocked down on a pedestrian crossing as he walked home from the city's Carrick Knowe Primary School on 5 October. Michael Adam Purcell, 19, made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff David Hall at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
The 19-year-old man was arrested in England in the early hours of Wednesday and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday. He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further inquiry. Mr Purcell was remanded in custody on Thursday.
Mr Purcell's appearance in court follows the death of Jack Anderson, 10, in Saughton Road North on 5 October.

A funeral service for Jack is being held for at the city's Mortonhall Crematorium on Friday at 1500 BST. Mr Purcell faces six charges, one theft, three attempted thefts, one charge of culpable homicide, and one of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
