Police say the human remains discovered at a recycling depot may have arrived there after being thrown in with a refuse collection. Police have identified the body parts of a man discovered by staff at a Bristol recycling depot.
Specialist officers are carrying out investigations at the Biffa site after Avon and Somerset Police were called to the Bristol plant at 11am on Friday after the remains of a human male were found. Avon and Somerset Police have named the victim as Matthew Symonds, 34, of no fixed address in Swindon, and said his death was being treated as unexplained.
A cordon remains in place at a recycling plant and an investigation has now been launched into the gruesome find. Specialist officers are carrying out investigations at the Biffa site after Avon and Somerset Police were called to the Bristol plant at 11am on Friday when staff found the remains of a human male.
Police are focusing their inquiries on Swindon after it is believed the body parts may have come from a recycling collection in the Wiltshire town, about 45 miles away along the M4. Det. Ch. Insp. Gareth Bevan said police are following several lines of inquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding Mr Symonds' death.

The victim has yet to be identified and police said it was too early to say how long the body parts had been dismembered. A post-mortem is due to be carried out later. The force said his next of kin have been informed.
