The single-decker bus was taken from an Arriva Yorkshire depot on Barnsley Road in Wakefield at 21:45 BST on Sunday. Officers followed the vehicle for about half an hour before using a stinger device to stop it on Ledger Lane, some five miles from the depot. West Yorkshire Police said a 34-year-old man had been arrested. Acting Sgt Chris Raby said: "Unfortunately, some unattended vehicles parked at the roadside were damaged, but nobody was hurt. "Thankfully, incidents such as this are rare. A man was arrested and will be interviewed in due course." Arriva called West Yorkshire Police immediately after the bus was stolen and officers were quickly in pursuit. When the driver refused to stop, a stinger device was used to burst the vehicle's tyres. Anyone with information has been asked to contact police. |
