Second charge over student death

A second man has been charged with the murder of a Liverpool university student who died on a night out.

Sion Hardy, a 24-year-old from Bangor, north Wales, died following a fight in Wolstenholme Square on 15 November.

Kevin Vincent O'Dea, aged 22, from Wingate Road, Aigburth, has appeared before Liverpool City Magistrates Court charged with his murder.

Simon Taylor, 21, from Everton, appeared before magistrates in the city on 18 November on the same charge.

Mr Taylor is a building student at Liverpool John Moores University.

Paramedics took Mr Hardy, a third-year civic and design student, to the Royal Liverpool Hospital but he had suffered fatal injuries in the attack and could not be resuscitated.

The dead man had been on a night out with friends at Medication at Nation club when the incident happened.

Mr O'Dea was remanded in custody to reappear at court on Friday.
