(about 1 hour later)
A weightlifter competing at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is due to appear in court charged with sexually assaulting a man. A weightlifter competing at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is to stand trial for an alleged sex attack on another man in a supermarket toilet.
Papua New Guinea athlete Toua Udia, 22, was arrested by police in the east end of Glasgow on 21 July. Toua Philip Udia, a competitor from Papua New Guinea, is alleged to have touched the man in the Tesco store, near the Athletes' Village, on 21 July.
He denied a sex attack charge over an incident involving another man in a toilet at a Tesco store on Dalmarnock Road, near the Athletes' Village. The 22-year-old pleaded not guilty over the incident during a pre-trial hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court. Sheriff Martin Jones QC continued the case to the trial later this week.
Mr Udia - a champion weightlifter in his homeland - is alleged to have "intentionally or recklessly" touched the man during the incident.
Bail granted
He initially appeared in court from custody last week where he entered a plea of not guilty.
The athlete was granted bail after being ordered to hand over his passport.
This allowed Mr Udia to join the 138-strong Papua New Guinea Commonwealth team at the opening ceremony at Celtic Park.
He went on to compete in the men's 77kg category for weightlifting on Sunday.
