The Commonwealth Games star popped off the saddle then popped the question to Amanda Ball as the crowd at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome cheered.
Pritchard, 31, had just finished third in a ride-off for the minor places in the men's keirin.
He admitted he had been plotting the proposal for months and said: "It has taken a lot of hard work."
The Sheffield-born cyclist added: "I couldn't tell anybody because I didn't want it to get out, it was top secret."
Girlfriend Amanda - who was holding the couple's baby boy Milo - was never in any doubt she would say yes.
She said: "I have been nagging for long enough.
"The ring is just like the one I took a picture of and left on the iPad."
Pritchard said he forced himself to put the proposal to the back of his mind until after his last race.
He said: "I kind of hoped she was going to say yes, so I just put that away and I just thought about what was going on in the keirin.
"It was a really good keirin, I really enjoyed it."
Sir Chris Hoy later joked about how Pritchard managed to conceal the engagement ring.
The multiple Olympic champion said: "The race suits don't have pockets, so I am not sure where he kept it."
And it wasn't the only proposal at the Games.
Fellow Scottish cyclist Aileen McGlynn's boyfriend, Graham, asked her to marry him. She said yes. |
