More time to quiz terror suspects
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/uk/5328638.stm Version 0 of 1. Police have been granted more time to question nine people arrested in overnight terror raids on 1 September in east London. The men are being held in connection with an investigation into an alleged network of terrorist recruiters. Armed police arrested 14 men during the raids last Friday. Police were given additional time to quiz three suspects on Wednesday, while two of those arrested have been released. The arrests included 12 made at a Chinese restaurant in the Borough area. A Sussex Islamic school and several London addresses have been searched since the arrests were made. Scotland Yard said the arrests were not connected to the alleged transatlantic jet bomb plot or the 7 July attacks. The remaining men are thought to be held at London's high-security Paddington Green police station. Sussex Police said searches at the Jameah Islameah Islamic school in Mark Cross, near Crowborough, could take weeks but said no arrests had been made there. |
