The A350 between Semington roundabout and Stony Gutter was not likely to reopen for several hours. Officers said there was limited access to Keevil. "Due to the extent of the injuries sustained, formal identification of the deceased will take a number of days," a force spokesman said.
"It is believed the deceased had connections to the Warminster and Melksham areas," the spokesman said.
"Wiltshire Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle before the collision occurred."
The A350, between the Semington roundabout and Stony Gutter, was closed for 11 hours while the circumstances surrounding the accident were investigated.
