Bridlington landlady murder: CCTV of suspect John Heald released

A murder suspect wanted over the fatal stabbing of a guest house landlady was seen on CCTV in a shop the day after the attack.

Bei Carter, 49, was found dead at Morayland Guest House on Marshall Avenue, Bridlington, on 18 July.

Footage released be police shows John Heald, from Rotherham, in B&M Bargains in Mexborough on 19 July at 16:15 BST.

The 53-year-old is also wanted for a serious sexual offence in Sheffield on 13 July.

Ch Supt Jason Harwin said: "We have released this image in the hope that it will jog someone's memory and encourage them to get in touch with police if they have seen this man.

"It might be that there are people looking after him who don't know what to do. This man is wanted in connection with a murder and serious sexual assault - we need to speak to him.

"I urge anyone who has seen him or has information as to his whereabouts to contact police immediately."

Humberside Police said Mr Heald checked in at the guest house on 17 July.

It is thought he travelled back to South Yorkshire. More than 150 police officers are searching for him in the Rotherham area.

A £5,000 reward has been offered by charity Crimestoppers for information leading to his arrest, and an appeal was broadcast on the BBC Crimewatch programme on Tuesday.

Flowers have been laid for Ms Carter outside the guesthouse.

Police said she died from a single stab wound to the chest.
