Kuwait: Citizenship Is Revoked for Five
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/22/world/middleeast/kuwait-citizenship-is-revoked-for-five.html Version 0 of 1. Kuwait’s cabinet stripped five people of their citizenship on Monday, meaning they lose their rights to government jobs, benefits and voting. The decision involved a former Islamist opposition lawmaker, Abdullah al-Barghash; three of his siblings; and Ahmad al-Shemmeri, owner of the independent television station Al Youm and the newspaper Alam al Yawm. A court ordered his newspaper temporarily shut down twice this year for defying a prosecutor-ordered media blackout about an investigation into a coup plot. |
