Farmers protest against Tesco lamb choice at Royal Welsh David Cameron launches 'buy local' scheme at Royal Welsh

Farmers have held at protest at the Royal Welsh Show in Powys against Tesco's promotion of New Zealand lamb in its stores. Prime Minister David Cameron is at the Royal Welsh Show in Powys to launch a scheme to get public sector firms buying local produce.
About 50 National Farmers Union members gathered outside the supermarket's stand urging it to back the Welsh farming industry. Members of his reshuffled cabinet including Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb and UK environment minister Elizabeth Truss are also there.
It comes as two new projects designed to help farmers improve their business profitability is launched at the event. Mr Cameron's visit comes as farmers held a protest against Tesco's promotion of New Zealand lamb.
Nominations for next year's St David Awards will also be opened at the show. National Farmers Union members met to urge it to back Welsh farmers.

It also plans to get public sector companies using local suppliers in a bid to to divert hundreds of millions of pounds from foreign suppliers to UK-based providers.
