Álvaro Negredo tells Manchester City he does not want to leave
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jul/16/alvaro-negredo-happy-manchester-city Version 0 of 1. Álvaro Negredo has signalled he will remain at Manchester City by stating he is “very happy and settled” with the champions. The striker has attracted the interest of Atlético Madrid, and with Negredo having not scored for City since 21 January following a blistering start to his inaugural season, the Spanish club had hoped to prise him for the Etihad Stadium. However, with Atlético pricing him at around €15m (£11.9m), half of City’s valuation, the only way Negredo might leave the club would be if the champions received a suitable bid and for the striker formally to request a move. However, Negredo’s statement of contentment would seem to close the matter. He said: “I don’t want to leave City, I’m very happy and settled here. I had a difficult end to the season and that’s why there’s been a lot of talking. But I’ve been very happy from the first day I arrived.” The two strikes Negredo registered in a 3-0 win at West Ham United in the Capital One Cup were the last of his 23 in 33 appearances before he embarked on a sequence of 16 without a goal until the end of the campaign. |
