Travellers using services to Guildford, Dorking and Woking were warned to expect delays. Delays were expected on services to Guildford, Dorking and Woking.
Station blocked
The 1735 BST service from Dorking was approaching platform two at low speed when the last two of the eight carriages came off the tracks.
Passengers were led to safety through the other carriages and through the driver's cab at the rear of the train.
Trains are unable to access platforms one to four as the two derailed carriages have blocked the entrance to the station.
A Network Rail spokeswoman said an investigation had begun into the derailment and delays would continue until the carriages were removed.
