A 49-year-old man has been charged in connection with the abduction of a 15-year-old girl.

Alan Grant, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, is charged with kidnapping the teenager from a street in Wrexham on Friday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said he would appear before Wrexham magistrates on Wednesday.

The force said he also faced charges involving two serious sexual offences and assault.

Mr Grant was arrested by Derbyshire Police in the Peak District on Monday evening.

Officers launched a UK-wide search after the girl was reported missing on Friday.

Two people arrested earlier on Monday had already been charged in connection with the incident.

Tracey Ann Bishop, 35, from Hyde, Greater Manchester, was remanded in custody after appearing before Flintshire magistrates charged with assisting an offender.

A man appeared before Wrexham magistrates on Monday, charged with perverting the course of justice.

North Wales Police have also confirmed that a fourth person had been arrested in connection with the inquiry.

A man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of assisting an offender and is in custody.

In a statement, the teenager's parents, who cannot be named, said they had experienced a "rollercoaster of emotions".

They said: "Our daughter is at home with us and although still deeply shocked and traumatised by what has happened, she is being supported by us and we have the support of family liaison officers together with other support agencies."

Earlier, police appealed for help from the public as their investigation continues.

They want to speak to anyone who saw a white LDV van being driven erratically in the Wrexham area on Friday.

Police also want to speak to a man who was jogging near the spot where the abduction took place.
