Pamplona Running of the Bulls 2014: Police search for man who took 'risky' selfie in front of onrushing bulls

Version 0 of 1. Spanish police are searching for a man who appeared to take a selfie just inches away from a group of onrushing bulls at this year’s Pamplona Running of the Bull festival. TV cameras captured the man holding up his phone and appearing to smile as one of the onrushing bulls followed just inches behind him. Wearing white trousers and a rather garish red jumper – enough to get any bull het up – the man slows down gets his shot and then runs back into the crowd. Yet, while the daredevil might have escaped a gouging to the back, his hair-brained actions have landed him in hot water with Spanish authorities. Under new laws passed by the city of Pamplona, the man’s decision to take a selfie in front of the bull could see him face a fine of up to €3,000. The new regulations were brought in to increase the safety for those that attend the annual event in Pamplona. According to reports, the higher profile of the event over recent times has seen an increase in adrenaline junkies turning up to see just how to the bulls they can get. Every year dozens of ‘Bull Runners’ are injured as they run through the streets of Pamplona and try to stop 800 Kg of angry bull from catching up with them - in the last century, 15 people have been killed during the event. The image of the selfie stupidity has already done the rounds on social media with a number of Twitter users lambasting the man for his actions. The festival has been in existence for 800 years and lasts a total of nine days, with revellers enjoying food, drink and the odd Bull Run. |
