Ulster unionists should consider their position in government if UUP ministers do not get the resources they need, a UUP MLA has said.

The assembly is due to debate the executive's budget and programme for government next week.

Basil McCrea told BBC Radio's Inside Politics his party must make clear its differences with the DUP and Sinn Fein.

"We have to make it clear we do not agree with these things - we did not agree to water charges," he said.

"We did not agree to cuts in the health budget .

"So what we are putting forward clearly to people is yes we want to run the ministries we are responsible for, but we can only do so with the appropriate level of resources, and if we don't get the appropriate level of resources then I think we have got some hard thinking to do."
