Four suspects are being questioned by police in Portugal over the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, the BBC understands. Two suspects have been questioned by police in the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
They had been identified as suspects by British police and attended a police station in Fargo "of their own free will". They left the central police station in Faro after they were interviewed by Portuguese police in the presence of Scotland Yard detectives.
British police are sitting in on the questioning, but only Portuguese officers are asking questions. A total of four "persons of interest" - or arguidos - will be quizzed in the latest development in the case.
Madeleine was three years old when she went missing in Praia da Luz in 2007. The move comes as British detectives continue their investigation into Madeleine's disappearance in 2007.
