At a news conference earlier, Det Supt Mark Payne said the death could have been the result of a robbery gone wrong.
He also said the killer went to great lengths to conceal her body.
"Cynthia was a lively and vibrant member of the community and we have found no reason why anyone would want to harm her," he said.
Mr Payne said they were keen to trace her silver Astra car, as well as a television and red laptop.
