First order of business involves QPR and Harry Redknapp. Of course it does. Fresh from ruffling a few feathers in the England camp, ‘Arry fancies a slice of his old chum Rio Ferdinand, and according to the Daily Mail, the 35-year-old will put pen to paper at Loftus Road in the next 24 hours. Which is a logistical nightmare, seeing as Rio is in Rio, but it’s true! Honest! | First order of business involves QPR and Harry Redknapp. Of course it does. Somebody that is keen on cutting his wage bill, mind, is Mark Hughes, who has placed Peter Crouch in the bargain bin – Stoke will accept anything in the region of £1m in an attempt to get his £50,000-a-week contract off the outgoings. | Somebody that is keen on cutting his wage bill, mind, is Mark Hughes, who has placed Peter Crouch in the bargain bin – Stoke will accept anything in the region of £1m in an attempt to get his £50,000-a-week contract off the outgoings. |
It’s been a fickle 24 hours for Louis van Gaal. His Holland side have swept aside all in their path but Louis has been irked with the news that compatriot Ronald Koeman, the new Southampton manager, has raised Luke Shaw’s asking price to £34m. Not that it’s Louis’s money of course, but still it’s a lot of dough for a teenager. The most ever apparently. Shaw will start for England against Costa Rica and pending a not-terrible performance, that will probably be enough for Louis to pull the trigger. | |
The Mill still doesn’t understand why some of the brightest talents in a team that have just won the Champions League continue to be linked with a club that isn’t playing in the Europa League next season but Manchester United are keen on both £30m-rated Sami Khedira and Ángel di María. “I’ve asked my agent not to tell me anything about the talks he’s having”, says the Argentinian, who is also a target for Arsenal. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with my career. I don’t want to know anything about my future right now. I’m focusing on my national team and not on what’s going on elsewhere,” he tunnel-visioned.
