Irish woman found on Thai beach Thai death woman was Dublin nurse
(about 10 hours later)
The body of a young Irish woman has been found washed up on a beach in Thailand. The name of the young Irish woman who drowned on a Thai island on Tuesday has been released.
It is understood that the woman was aged in her 20s and she came from County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland. She was Linda Crossan, a 28-year-old Dublin-based nurse from Greaghdermotitt, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan.
Her family have been informed about her death and they are being provided with consular assistance. Friends who were travelling with Linda tired in vain to rescue the only girl in a family of five children.
On Tuesday, the Republic of Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the woman's body had been found. In a statement the Crossan family said they did not know when her remains would be brought home.
