Stockport M60 trapped van blaze victim dies

A man found trapped inside a burning van on a motorway slip road in Greater Manchester has died.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire, at junction 1 in Stockport.

Greater Manchester Police said emergency services were called after the blaze broke out at about 18:10 BST.

The man was pulled from the vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene. Police do not believe any other vehicle was involved.

Officers closed part of the motorway, which led to lengthy tailbacks. Motorists had been advised to avoid the area.
