Black bear joins two joggers for a run in the Canadian forest
Version 0 of 1. If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise: a black bear keen to join in on a pleasant jog. Bruce Allan posted footage on YouTube of him and a friend running on the Matcheetawin Discovery Trails outside Fort McMurray in Alberta in early June. Towards the end of their jog, they realised they were being tracked by a large black bear. Allan dubs the incredible video "Pawzing workout," as the six-minute clip begins with the sound of Allan's running tracker robotically announcing that his workout was being paused, namely because a large bear could be seen not far away. Their initial reaction at the sight? "No way, man. We're not good." The men can be heard pleading: "You have to let us go today". The two runners can be heard telling each other to stay tight together to make a more formidable object more likely to stop the bear from attacking. They also ready themselves for any eventual altercation. At one point one of them says: "Get ready to hit him on the bead, we’re going to have to knock him out." *WARNING: Video contains some offensive language* Eventually, the bear briefly climbs up a tree, allowing the men to quickly turn and run for the safety of their car. When the men get inside, they appear out of breath and visibly shaken after the ordeal. "Unbelievable," Allan says before the video ends. |
