South Western Ambulance Service confirmed it had been called to the incident at 13:38 BST to find Mr McDonald unconscious and not breathing. | |
A spokesman said he had suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital, but he could not be revived. | |
In a statement, British Eventing confirmed the 30-year-old was involved in a fatal accident just before 13:30 BST. | |
"Jordan's horse, Only Me, a seven-year-old gelding, was not injured," it added. | |
BE said the Canadian rider had been based in Leicestershire, and married wife Shandiss a year ago. | |
"No further details are available at present," the statement said. | |
A spokesman for Nunney Horse Trials said that trials were immediately suspended but would resume on Sunday. |
