One witness, a 20-year-old student who did not want to be named, said: "I arrived just after it happened.
"There were two men sat in a Securicor van with all the doors open. The police arrived about 10 or 15 minutes after I'd arrived.
Roads were sealed off for hours after the incident

A large area from Llandough Street to Llanbadarn Gardens road remained cordoned off several hours later and dozens of police were at the scene, including armed officers.
People who lived in the cordoned off area were escorted back to their homes by police.
Although people were allowed back into the students' union building, they were asked to stay away from the Senghennydd Road side to avoid disturbing the scene.
A police spokesman said the gang had left the scene, and it was not yet known whether anything was taken.A police spokesman said the gang had left the scene, and it was not yet known whether anything was taken.
Police said that nobody was injured, no shots were fired and so far there was no evidence of firearms. No arrests have been made.
During term time, the area would normally be busy with students and staff from the university. It is also popular with office workers from the adjoining civic centre.
